Tenax – Safety and Snow Fencing

High Visibility Safety

Safety, Construction, and Snow Fencing products are used in a wide variety of ways; and whether your site requires delineation, traffic control, visual barriers, tree protection and/or animal inclusion or exclusion, the high quality products from the Tenax Corporation, available at D2 Land & Water Resource, can support all of your fencing needs quickly and effectively. Tenax Safety and Snow Fencing products ship in compact, palletized quantities to reduce third party freight charges and ship from strategically located warehouses on both the East and West coasts to condense lead times.

The Tenax Snow Fencing products act as a highly visible wind barrier/breaker and helps prevent wind from carrying snow drifts onto your construction site. “Drift Control” much like Erosion and Sediment Control, works on the basic assumption: Deposition occurs when flow is disrupted enough that particles are too heavy to be transported by way of wind or water. Snow Fence actually works by creating snow drifts, not preventing them. A strategically placed line of Snow Fencing will act enough as a wind barrier that primary deposition of snow (drifts) will occur on the downside or upwind of the line of fencing. Snow fence can also be used around the perimeter of your parking lot or driveway to lessen the need for plowing during the winter months and can be used to delineate the extents of your parking and driving infrastructure. These Snow Fencing products are rated for residential, commercial and industrial use, and true to the Tenax system, are available in a “Good, Better, and Best” fashion to best fit into your budget whenever the need for them may arise. FryeFlow: Dewatering Filtration Bags

When pumping in or around the saturated soils that exist near the waterline elevation it is important that measures be taken to minimize sediment transportation into a body of water. The FryeFlow dewatering filtration bags are the easiest to use and most economic solution available to ensure that sediment does not leave your jobsite. FryeFlow dewatering bags are sized to meet the discharge rates of most pumps and are available in custom sizes for pumps greater than 6”. These filtration bags are made of a high-strength, high-flow, nonwoven geotextile to allow for maximum clean water flow. The bags retain the sediments that are pumped in and allow filtered water to pass through.

Typical use guide:

  1. A bed of open graded stone is prepared whose area is greater than that of the Dewatering bag; stone bed is to be reasonably flat, open graded aggregate bed sized appropriately to dewatering bag dimensions.
  2. First an appropriate number of lifting straps are placed over aggregate bed to facilitate later removal; the dewatering bag is then unfolded on the prepared bed and oriented such that the dewatering bag has aggregate beyond all sides; pump hoses are brought to the dewatering bag
  3. Additional perimeter control BMP’s are placed on all sides of the stone bed for energy dissipation and to control any secondary sediment movement.
  4. Hose is then placed into the dewatering bag via the built-in nozzle; connection between bag and hose end to be secured with appropriately sized worm clamp.
  5. Turn on pump to slightly above the idle position and do NOT increase throttle until a proper filter cake is developed. Once the filter cake is developed increase throttle to desired position and continue dewatering activities
  6. Dewatering bag is deemed as “full” when it can no longer efficiently filter sediment, or when the rate at which water passes through the filter decreases to impractical levels.
  7. Repeat as necessary until dewatering applications are complete or as instructed by project engineers/inspectors.
  8. Dispose of used bags in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Disposal may require machinery.

IAS Water Quality Skimmers

D2 Land & Water Resource would like to announce the addition of the IAS Water Quality Skimmer to our product line. The IAS Water Quality Skimmer is a floating device which slowly releases/drains downstream surface water from ponds, sediment traps and/or basins at controlled flow rates. This is all accomplished because the IAS Water Quality Skimmer floats near the surface of the water where the concentration of suspended solids is at its lowest. Competitive products typically take sediment-laden waters from the bottom of a body of water and will run these waters through a filtration system (usually a bag or other filtration-type devices) that often clog or require heavy equipment to move off site when dewatering operations are completed.  The design of the IAS Water Quality Skimmer allows sediment to stay in the designated sediment traps/basins and clean waters to leave your jobsite. The IAS Water Quality Skimmers are ideal for use on municipal, state, and/or federal projects. These skimmers are available in multiple sizes and have no moving parts that can break or become clogged. Call your D2 Land & Water Resource Regional Sales Manager to see if the IAS Water Quality Skimmer is right for your project. CLICK HERE FOR MORE PRODUCT INFORMATION AND AVAILABLE SIZES.

Featured Product: Tensar TriAx Geogrids

TriAx: A Revolution in Geogrid Technology

D2 Land & Water Resource, Inc. is proud to introduce the availability of Tensar International Corp’s new TriAx line of geogrid technology. Over the past 30+ years, Tensar International Corporation has become the most trusted name in geogrid technology. The TriAx series of geogrid can allow for better overall performance of your paved and unpaved road sections or a cross section reduction of a permanent road when constructed on firm subgrades. The TriAx series of geogrid will increase performance and functional longevity of a site while reducing aggregate thickness and therefore overall cost. TriAx geogrids are made in America, manufactured and tested to the highest standards, and are supported by the most knowledgeable sales teams across the world.

Understanding the TriAx Difference

Throughout the years Tensar International Corp. has been known best for its Biaxial (or BX) line of geogrids. A geogrid works by locking aggregate into place so that when a load is introduced the aggregate experiences minimal shifting (confinement) or rutting (stiffness). A biaxial geogrid confines aggregates at 90 degree angles (machine direction or MD and cross machine direction or XMD). For the past 3 decades this method of MD/XMD aggregate reinforcement has sufficed; however, the expectation that our roads, highways, and parking lots need to last longer and remain functional under heavier loads while at the same time remaining economical, requires that the technology evolve: TriAx is the only answer in the marketplace today.

A TriAx or triaxial geogrid confines aggregate on a radial plane, confining and reinforcing aggregate in all directions. TriAx geogrids feature taller ribs, larger junctions and greater stiffness when compared to the biaxial or BX-series of geogrids. All of these improvements lead to a truly superior material.
